Dr. Andrew Sears receives inaugural Constellation Professorship appointment

Dr. Andrew Sears, Chair, Department of Information Systems at UMBC has been appointed the inaugural holder of the Constellation Professorship in Information Technology and Engineering.

Dr. Sears was appointed by Dr. Elliot Hirshman, UMBC Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, as the inaugural holder of the Constellation Professorship in Information Technology and Engineering. Funds to endow this Professorship came from the Constellation Energy Group to benefit the Information Technology and Engineering educational initiatives and for the development of faculty in these areas at UMBC.

According to Dr. Warren DeVries, Dean of UMBC’s College of Engineering and Information Technology, “Dr. Sears' accomplishments in the field of Information Systems and his leadership in developing students and faculty at UMBC made him an outstanding candidate for this position of leadership in education and research.”
